Section 24220 of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act requires new vehicles starting this year to include tech that can detect driver impairment and shut down your car. The stated goal is preventing drunk driving - systems that monitor blood alcohol content and stop the car from starting if you're over the limit. Sounds reasonable until you think about what else this enables. False positives could strand you. Hackers could exploit the system. And here's the big one: the government or manufacturers could theoretically disable your vehicle remotely.

• During the 2020 U.S. election, a Michigan-based election software company called Konnech Inc. provided backdoor access to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) using their company's PollChief software, which is used by election offices in multiple states to manage poll workers. Konnech stored sensitive personal data on over 2 million U.S. poll workers (including names, addresses, phone numbers, and partial Social Security numbers) on servers in China, violating U.S. data security laws and contracts that required data to stay domestic. The CCP could exploit this access to manipulate voter rolls, track poll workers, and interfere in elections. Konnech CEO Eugene Yu was arrested by Los Angeles County prosecutors for fraud and data theft, based on tips from election integrity group True the Vote. The CCP deployed the software in key battleground areas like Detroit (Michigan) and Los Angeles (California), in jurisdictions covering over 30 million registered voters. (video)

• Under the made-up blue slip rule, for a Trump judge or US Attorney nomination to go forward for approval, BOTH SENATORS, even from a Democrat state, must approve. Otherwise Grassley won't send the nominee forward. Because of the blue slip system, there are entire judicial regions (the 9th Circuit) where it's known by lawyers and other judges that the law doesn't apply. There's no way to reform the system, because the Senate won't change the rules. This also means that Trump, despite winning the popular vote and 7 for 7 swing states, cannot appoint US Attorneys who will enforce the will of the American people. One Democrat can veto anything. Even worse, there are line attorneys inside DOJ who are working to protect Democrats. They were hired by Biden. There's no way to remove them, because Trump cannot put his own US Atty inside the office. The blue slip system is made up, by the way. It's not in law. Grassley could end it today. Why won't he?
