- A company image is fragile. Once customers decide the brand is a joke, the stock follows. Nike used to stand for winning. Then it became known for a Dylan Mulvaney campaign. The stock is now down almost 80 percent from its 2021 peak and Nike is being dropped from the S&P 100 after nearly 18 years. That is not a mood. That is company value. Nike is the cleanest recent example of go woke, go broke. The product still exists. The trust does not. Brands that lecture their buyers should not act shocked when those buyers leave. (video)
