On the heels of the measles debacle, we also have this: Pennsylvania's Department of Health wants to change one word in its regulations to allow officials to enter your apartment without a warrant. Right now, the rule says people can't stop a health official from entering during an outbreak investigation, and only after officials have judged the situation an actual threat. The new version flips that into a direct grant of entry power, drops the requirement to judge it a real threat first, and expands what counts as a reason to enter beyond infectious disease to include things like chemical or lead exposure.
